Welcome to NHM

Natural Heritage Malta (NHM) is a non-profit pilot project aimed towards collating, preserving and providing free access to digitised books or academic content specifically related to the natural heritage of the Maltese archipelago, in its wider sense. The immense volume of published literature on the natural heritage of the islands is impressive, but has limited distribution and is mostly restricted to those few who can gain direct access to hard copy library or private collections.

This online repository aggregates writings which capture the romance of the Maltese natural environment, the intricate beauty that belies it all and the human agency that has shaped it over time. The writings remain valid till today and offer a fascinating knowledge base to understand our restricted but intense natural environment.

As at December 2016, NHM is storing 60,000 objects (480Gb) on Google Drive.
