Terms of use

The guiding principle behind what gets archived on NHM is based on making available works which are already in the public domain in some form or other, material that is out of print or material that we have seeked permission for its reproduction here.
The NHM Repository contains digital versions of important works of Maltese natural literature, and any use of this material is intended purely for educational purposes, and is intended for non-commercial use.

No commercial use - You cannot use objects in the NHM collection to make money, or for any commercial endeavor, without prior approval from the copyright holders for any commercial use. The NHM will not and cannot give or withhold permission for commercial use of any work in the NHM derived from a work under copyright. Please determine the copyright holder or the institution that contributed the work and contact them directly. The NHM will not act as “middle-man” in this communication.

Anyone wishing to use the catalogue for any other purpose must contact the copyright holder to seek permission.

By using NHM you are bound by the following Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully. I have read and I understand the following statement:All material supplied via NHM is protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights, and duplication or sale of all or part of any of the Data Collections is not permitted, except that material may be referred to by you for your research use or for educational purposes in electronic form. Take-Down Policy

All objects in the repository are either in the public domain, or have the necessary permissions to support the level of access afforded, or are simply archived in such a way as to ensure an enduring copy of the content.
The NHM makes every effort to ensure that it has appropriate rights to provide access to content. In those cases where the rights are unclear (e.g., when we encounter copyright information that, relative to the work in hand, is ambiguous or contradictory), we archive but do not provide access to the work. Parties who have questions or who wish to contest the use of specific works may contact us at info@naturalheritagemalta.org or on +356 2142 0852.

With all such communications, please include:

  1. 1. A physical or electronic identification document of the copyright owner. NOTE: If an agent is providing the notification, also include a statement that the agent is authorized to act on behalf of the owner
  2. 2. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit the NHM to locate the material. Providing URLs in your communication is the best way to help us locate content quickly.

The NHM will respond to all correspondence within two business days. If the NHM is not able to determine, within one business day, that the NHM is permitted to display the work(s) in question, the NHM will cease providing access to the work until or unless it can determine that such uses are permitted. Depending on these determinations, Projects in Motion Ltd. may restrict access to the work(s) in question or remove them from its systems. Removing the work(s) in question will result in the NHM ceasing to provide long-term preservation resources to the digitized content.
